Il volume mette a confronto le tecniche di chirurgia tradizionale e quelle di chirurgia endovascolare nel trattamento della patologia arteriosa. Le prime quattro parti del volume sono dedicate ad argomenti che preparano il lettore all'approfondimento della tecnica chirurgica, descritta nelle parti successive. Le tecniche chirurgiche sono descritte in quattro parti principali: chirurgia dei vasi periferici, chirurgia dell'aorta e dei vasi viscerali, chirurgia delle ischemie acute, amputazioni e riabilitazione. Ogni capitolo viene introdotto dalla descrizione dell'anatomia chirurgica e delle principali vie di accesso, seguita dalla presentazione della tecnica.

Caratteristica peculiare del volume e di esporre i più importanti argomenti di chirurgia pediatrica con una logica "problem solving", partendo dal sintomo cardine ("problema") anziché ricorrere alla classica suddivisione per organi e apparati.
