The Human Brain
Surface, Three-dimensional Sectional Anatomy with MRI and Blood Supply
Henri M. Duvernoy
editore: Springer Verlag GmbH
pagine: 498
Serial sections - 2 mm thick - of the cerebral hemispheres and diencephalon in the coronal, sagittal, and horizontal planes. So as to point out the level of the sections more accurately, each is shown from different angles - emphasising the surrounding hemisphere surfaces. This 3D approach has proven to be extremely useful when apprehending the difficult anatomy of the gyri and sulci of the brain. Certain complex cerebral structures such as the occipital lobe, the deep grey matter and the vascularization are studied here in greater detail. This second edition has been completely revised and updated, 44 serial sections have been added, while old MRI figures have been replaced by newer ones.

A concise, highly visual overview of neuroanatomy and its functional underpinnings Clinical Neuroanatomy, Twenty-Eighth Edition offers an accessible, easy-to-remember synopsis of neuroanatomy and its functional and clinical implications. Since many of us learn and remember better when material is presented visually, this acclaimed resource includes not only clinical material such as brain scans and pathological specimens, but also hundreds of diagrams and tables that are designed to be clear and memorable. Here's why Clinical Neuroanatomy is essential for board review or as a clinical refresher: * NEW SECTION summarizes the most important take-away lessons from each chapter * More than 300 full-color illustrations * A unique chapter on Introduction to Clinical Thinking puts neuroanatomy in clear clinical perspective * Numerous CT and MRI scans * Block diagrams illustrate actions of each muscle (essential for the clinical motor examination) * Hundreds of diagrams and tables encapsulate important information * Essentials for the Clinical Neuroanatomist list appears in each chapter * Clear and memorable root-by-root and nerve-by-nerve illustrations of sensory areas and muscle intervention * Coverage of the basic structure and function of the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nerves as well as clinical presentations of disease processes involving specific structures * Emphasizes must-know concepts, facts, and structures * Appendices include The Neurologic Examination, Testing Muscle Function, Spinal Nerves and Plexuses, and Questions and Answers * Case studies demonstrate how concepts apply to real-world situations If your practice or education would benefit from an engagingly written, well-illustrated overview of neuroanatomy and its functional underpinnings, this trusted resource belongs on your desk.
Atlas of Functional Neuroanatomy
Walter Hendelman
editore: CRC Press Inc
pagine: 325
Understanding how the brain is organized and visualizing its pathways and connections can be conceptually challenging. The Atlas of Functional Neuroanatomy, Third Edition addresses this challenge by presenting a clear visual guide to the human central nervous system (CNS). This edition has been completely reorganized to facilitate learning the structure and function of the CNS. The material is suitable for medical students, non-neurology residents, and other health professionals who seek a solid understanding of the brain. This edition: * Presents an instructive format that fosters a thorough understanding of complex neuroanatomy, emphasizing the functional perspective and supplemented with clinical aspects * Incorporates enhanced illustrations, retaining the selective labeling of the nuclei and tracts (pathways) * Includes new material explaining the visual system, meninges, venous system, and limbic system * Features a substantial increase in the number of neuroradiological (CT and MRI) images An accompanying Web site (www.atlasbrain.com) includes the book's illustrations along with rollover labeling, animation of the pathways and connections, a glossary, and narrated video demonstrations of the brain.

The English Edition contains a few differences from the first ItaHan Edition, which require an explanation. Firstly, some imag- es, especially some 3D reconstructions, have been modified in order to make them clearer. Secondly, in agreement with the Publisher, we have disowned one of our statements in the preface to the Italian Edition. Namely, we have now added a brief introductory text for each section, by way of explanation to the anatomical and physiological notes. This should make it easier for the reader to understand and refer to this Atlas. These differences derive from our experience with the previous edition and are meant to be an improvement thereof Hopefully, there will be more editions to follow, so that we may further improve our work and keep ourselves busy on lone- some evenings. Finally, the improvements in this edition are a reminder to the reader that one should never purchase the first edition of a work. UAquila, January 2006 The Authors Preface to the Italian Edition I have been meaning to publish an atlas of neuroradiologic cranio-encephaHc anatomy for at least the last decade. Normal anatomy has always been of great and charming interest to me. Over the years, while preparing lectures for my students, I have always enjoyed lingering on anatomical details that today are rendered with astonishing realism by routine diagnostic ima- ging.
