I disordini dello sviluppo motorio. Fisiopatologia. Valutazione diagnostica. Quadri clinici. Riabilitazione
Ermellina Fedrizzi
editore: Piccin-Nuova Libraria
pagine: 368
Curare l'insonnia senza farmaci. Metodi di valutazione e intervento cognitivo-comportamentale
Alessandra Devoto , Cristiano Violani
editore: Carocci
pagine: 238
Practical Handbook of Neurosurgery
Marc Sindou
editore: Springer Verlag GmbH
pagine: 1715
"Practical Handbook of Neurosurgery" invites readers to take part in a journey through the vast ? eld of neurosurgery, in the company of internationally - nowned experts. At a time when the discipline is experiencing a (detrimental) tendency to segment into various sub? elds and scatter in the process, it can be worthwhile to collect a number of practical lessons gleaned from experienced and leading neurosurgeons. The book also aims to present numerous important ? gures in the neu- surgical community, with a brief overview of the vitae and main contri- tions for each. We must confess that we were sad that some of the most active members were unable to participate, likely due to time constraints. We are however fortunate that the majority were able to take part. As such, though not exhaustive, the book does represent an anthology of contemporary neurosurgeons. PREFACE At the very beginning of the project, our intention was to make a "po- etbook". But month after month it became obvious that the work would be much more expansive; ultimately we produced three volumes. Nevertheless we hope that all the three volumes together will remain easily accessible and a daily companion.
The pocket has to be more like a travel bag! We would like to thank all of the contributors; they have sacri? ced their valuable time to deliver sound and critical views, and above all useful gui- lines.

Myasthenia Gravis and Related Disorders
Henry J. Kaminski
editore: Humana Press Inc.
pagine: 324
Advances in the study and understanding of myasthenia gravis have led to the need for the publication of this important new edition. The goal of Myasthenia Gravis and Related Disorders, Second Edition is identical to the first -- to provide the clinician and the scientist with a common resource for understanding this complex disorder. This new edition begins with discussions of neuromuscular junction structure and function and follows with updated chapters covering a wide range of topics, such as the acetylcholine receptor, clinical presentation, diagnostic evaluation, and treatment. Importantly, new supplemental chapters have been added; these discuss rigorous clinical assessments of patients for research trials and the epidemiology and genetics of myasthenia gravis. The discussion of the most challenging aspects of myasthenia gravis, its impact on patients' psychological make-up, has been expanded as well. Myasthenia Gravis and Related Disorders, Second Edition retains the "personal approach" of the authors regarding treatment and is a valuable resource for meeting the many and varied needs of patients with myasthenia gravis.

Posture
A Key Issue in Developmental Disorders
Eva Brogren Carlberg , Mijna Hadders-Algra
editore: Mac Keith Press
pagine: 352
Clinics in Developmental Medicine No. 179 The complex nature of the postural control system makes it vulnerable to adverse conditions during early life, such as prenatally or perinatally acquired lesions of the brain or preterm birth. Children with disorders of the developing brain nearly always have dysfunctions in postural control. The postural control system of children with other neurodevelopmental disabilities such as myelomeningocele or muscle disease is also challenged: it has to find age-specific solutions for the postural problems posed by the disorder. These postural problems have serious consequences for the activities of daily life, as adequate postural control is a prerequisite for adequate motility. Until now, knowledge about the nature of postural problems in children has been scattered, and this has hampered the development of appropriate therapeutic management strategies. This book is a breakthrough in that it introduces the reader to the complexity of typical and atypical postural development and provides suggestions for the day-to-day management of postural problems in children with developmental disorders such as cerebral palsy, developmental coordination disorder, muscle disorder and myelomeningocoele. "This should be a 'must read' for anyone whose occupation or interests are in the areas of motor development or rehabilitation" Diane Damiano.
